We have Nippers on this Sunday.
The weather looks good with a high of 28. There will be fog in the morning but that should burn off pretty quickly.
There is a Junior Carnival on Sunday at Anglesea. Several of our Sunday volunteers will be away for the carnival. Additional help from parents on the day would be appreciated. Just let your Age Group manager on the day know that you can help.

For anyone who will be in Anglesea on Saturday afternoon / evening Nick Weetman will be running a board session. Club boards will be there for use.
The primary beach will be Anglesea, however, if the swell is a bit strong we will move to Pt Roadknight beach for the backup.
We will make a call on beach by 10am and let you know which beach in the TeamApp Chat by 10am on Saturday.

Club Championships (Club Champs)

Club Champs is an opportunity for our Nippers and Youth/Senior Athletes to demonstrate their skill across individual/beach and surf events.
Club Champs Juniors (U08-U13) Sunday 3 March 10:30am -12:30pm
Nippers will compete in 4-5 events (depending on age group). Points will be given based on finishing place 1-6. Ribbons will be given per event and an overall winner and runner up (by age and gender) will be announced at end of season presentation day.
Events are as follows
- U08 – Board, Wade, Beach Run, Sprint, Flags
- U09 – Board, Wade, Swim, Beach Run, Sprint, Flags
- U10 - Iron, Board, Wade, Swim, Beach Run, Sprint, Flags
- U11 - Iron, Board, Wade, Swim, Beach Run, Sprint, Flags
- U12 - Iron, Board, Wade, Swim, Beach Run, Sprint, Flags
- U13 - Iron, Board, Wade, Swim, Beach Run, Sprint, Flags

Clint Robinson Training Sessions 2-3 March

Clint Robinson will be in Victoria for some training sessions on 2-3 March. These sessions will be at an ocean beach, most likely Anglesea, and focus on board skills (U10-Open), body surfing (U10-Open), ski (U17-Open).
For those of you who are not familiar with Clint. Clint Robinson is a professional lifesaving coach that has been working with Mentone LSC athletes for the last 12 years. He also writes our training programs and provides guidance to us on aspects of our competition program. Clint has won over 40 Aussie titles and several Olympic medals. He competed for many years in the Uncle Toby Ironman series. He is considered one of the best lifesaving athletes to participate in the sport.
Current schedule:
Saturday 2 March
- 8:30am – 10:00am Board U14-Open
- 10:15am – 11:30am Body Surfing U13-Open
- 11:45am – 1:15pm Board Session (U10-U13)
- 1:30pm – 2:30pm Body Surfing U10-U12
Sunday 3 March
- 8:30am – 12noon Ski session (starts, finish, wave management)
Cost:
- Nipper (board + body surf) $40
- Youth/Senior (board + body surf) $40
- Senior (Mal + body surf + ski) $80

Victoria Youth/Senior Lifesaving State Championships
|

Victoria Youth/Senior Lifesaving State Championships is the final event for the summer competition season. The event will take place later this year than usual.
This year’s Senior State Champs is from Friday 22 March until Sunday 24 March. The events on Friday typically start in the afternoon. LSV will publish a schedule soon, but events are subject to change in order based on conditions (waves, tides, heat, etc).
This year’s State Championship will take place in Ocean Grove, Victoria.
There is a change this year to the Composite team rules allowing us to have an athlete enter a composite team if we do not have the numbers needed to fill out a team.

After a successful season of pool lifesaving for Mentone we are seeking expressions of interest from members wishing to continue or to join this activity.
It's a great way to stay fit and also introduces some new lifesaving skills that enhance the skills learnt during the summer.

Come along and join Harriet Brown, Professional Iron Women, at an important workshop for female athletes.
KaMana Workshop 1 (more to come) – Female Athlete Health and Understating your Menstrual Cycle
This topic is not spoken enough about. It’s important for ALL female athletes to have a solid understanding of their menstrual cycle.
In this workshop Harriet will explore:
- Understanding female physiology (we are different to men)
- What it means to be a healthy athlete
- Understanding your menstrual cycle
- Tracking your cycle and using this to support training, performance and recovery

Tips for training in different phases of your cycle
A combination of Harriet’s experience as an Exercise Physiologist and her stories of navigating being a female athlete.

The Aussies (National Lifesaving Championships)

The National Lifesaving Championships 'Aussies' takes place at different locations predominantly in Queensland and occasionally WA. This event is the final competitive event for the Summer Surf Lifesaving Season. The Aussies hav beach and surf events for U13-Masters. This year the Aussies will host 480 events and over 300 surf lifesaving club athletes. This event is an awesome experience for athletes and spectators.
This year’s Aussies will be held on the Sunshine Coast across the four beaches. Events types are assigned to different beaches
The Aussies are being held between 13 and 21 April. The age groups are spread throughout the 8 days.
Team and Transport
Mentone will be sending a team and will be transporting craft via trailer.
