The GM Membership Development will appoint a panel to discuss the nominations and make a decision.

We will be starting our Winter Nippers season in Mid-May, tentatively 19 May.

Winter Nippers is held on Saturdays through the winter from 3pm – 5pm at Mentone LSC.  Winter Nippers is typically a run on the hard paths (2-4kms) followed by a long board paddle.  We will be scheduling some weekend sessions at surf beaches to work on board skills in the waves.  We encourage parents to take part in the run and swim for Winter Nippers. 

This year we started a new tradition at Mentone LSC with our inaugural IWD breakfast at the club. Twenty women who have made significant contributions to our club as volunteers in the past 12 months were invited and 7 of these were nominated for our new IWD awards: Youth Female Contribution Award and Senior Female Contribution Award. The people nominated may not always be as visible and recognised as others at the club, and we wanted to encourage and acknowledge them as our future leaders.

The nominees for 2024 were Brea Adams, Josie Rees, Sarah Pinkerton, Helen Mosse and Denise Stewart with our two award winners this year being Annabelle Harpley and Simeone Appleby.

We truly value the many hours of volunteer time women at our club contribute. Thank you one and all.

Mentone LSC had 7 athletes compete at the 2024 LSV Champion Lifesaver Event.

This event required the athletes to demonstrate, in a competitive manner, the physical, lifesaving and knowledge skills of a lifesaver. Our members had great fun competing in surf race, board race, tube rescue, CPR and an LSV knowledge exam.

After a successful season of pool lifesaving for Mentone we are seeking expressions of interest from members wishing to continue or join this activity.

During the winter months, pool lifesaving provides athletes the opportunity to continue developing their rescue-ready skills by competing in events requiring the skills and knowledge that could save a life.

The athletes training in the pool are the same people we see on the beach and within the community saving lives during summer.

We will have our Junior Presentation Day on Sunday 5 May at the club. 

We will schedule the age groups to specific times throughout the day.  This schedule will be shared next week on TeamApp.

We have locked in 11 May for our Youth / Senior / Boatie / Patrol Gala Evening. 

The evening will be from 6pm to 10pm at Mentone LSC. More details to follow on TeamApp.
