The Mentone Life Saving Club's Training / Function space, kitchen and male change rooms will be temporarily closed due to internal damage caused by a water leak. 

The contractor will begin rectification works on April 24 - which will take approximately four weeks to complete. 

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and look forward to reopening these areas of the club soon.

Mentone LSC will once again participate in the ANZAC Day March and commemorative service at Mentone. Come along to this important community event and march under our club flag.

The march will depart at 8.40am for a service at the Mentone RSL, including a wreath laying ceremony. Morning tea follows in the RSL clubrooms.

To conclude our Patrol season and as a "Thank you" for your efforts, we would like to invite you to the end of the season catch up.

We will have a quick "tidy up" of the patrol area, followed by a few nibbles and drinks on the grass area downstairs. The IRB team may also be training and preparing for their first carnival next week, so feel free to join in.

Pool lifesaving offers an incredible opportunity for athletes to:

• get involved in a sport that is fun and social and provides opportunities for State, National, and International participation and representation.
• keep training and remain rescue-ready all year round; and
• refine skills that can be used during patrol season.

‍Pool Lifesaving Junior Competition U8 to U11 

Mentone LSC will be running training session at Mentone Grammar for this group on Monday nights at 7.30 to 8.30pm and on Saturdays from 1.00pm to 2.00pm starting from April 20.

LSV Junior Pool Lifesaving Come and Try Day

LSV is running a Junior ‘Come and Try’ Pool Lifesaving session at MSAC on Sunday 21 April from 9.00am – 11.00am in the indoor 50m pool.

These sessions are available to Under 8 –11, particularly those new to Pool Lifesaving and any wishing to update and refine their skills.

As of next season, each family will need to be able to offer either an accredited Technical Official OR Water Safety person before your nipper will be entered in carnivals to fulfill our LSV-mandated ratios.

While things on the beach are quiet during winter, LSV is calling for expressions of interest for Technical Officials Practical / Assessment for the Pool Lifesaving Season.

A great way to get your Technical Official qualification while staying warm during the winter!

With the current SLSA Officiating Framework, there is an online component and face to face practical / assessment.

To be eligible for this training, you must be:

• 16 years or older
• Have completed all components of the online modules, link below (approximately 2 hours in total, but can be broken into smaller sections for ease of completion)  https://members.sls.com.au/SLSA_Online/modules/login/index.php
• Hold a current Working with Children Check
• Be a current SLSA member

As a Technical Official, you will learn more about surf lifesaving events and will have the opportunity to support your nipper up close during carnivals. (Plus, Officials get a free lunch at carnivals – bonus!)

The 2024 Annual General Meeting for Mentone Lifesaving Club Inc will be held 7.30pm, Tuesday 25th June at Mentone Life Saving Club, 66 Bay Trail, Mentone.

Nominations for Executive and General Committees will open 25th May, nomination form can be found on TeamApp and our Club website, all nominations to be submitted to the Secretary (secretary@mentonelsc.com) by 10th June 2024.

Should you like to submit any items to be raised in General Business at the AGM please do so in writing to the secretary@mentonelsc.com no later than 25th May 2023.
