We are excited to announce the addition of a new award commencing in 2024. As we celebrate the first 12 months of running our Junior Committee, we have made the decision to celebrate, inspire and encourage the younger members of our club with a newly created "Emerging Young Leader" award.

This award will be open for nominations for males and females in the 14-25 age category who meet the following criteria:

• The member has made a significant contribution to the club in season 2023/2024.
• The member has taken on a leadership role at the club (either formally or informally) and displays emerging leadership skills.
• The member shows a keen willingness to become involved in various areas of the club, and shows potential to become a key contributor and leader.

Please note, nominations are open for Male and Female categories, but there is no obligation to award to both or either gender.

If there is someone between the ages of 14 and 25 that you think would be deserving of this award for 2023/2024 then please click to cimplete the nomination form by 10pm Friday 3rd May

If you are 14+ you are invited to come down to the club to have a go at surfboat rowing.  

No previous experience needed our qualified coaches will show you the ropes.

The aim is to have fun and egg & bacon rolls will be provided afterwards.

Training for 2024 Pool Life Saving season started this week with 25 Nippers attending the junior interclub session with Mordialloc on Saturday and 30 junior and senior athletes at our club's swimming session on Monday night!

It's great to see so much interest in pool lifesaving, which as well as being an exciting sport, builds confidence, teaches teamwork, and adds an extra dimension to both swimming and summer lifesaving skills.

Pool lifesaving also offers an incredible opportunity for athletes to:

Get involved in a sport that is fun and social and provides opportunities for State, National, and International participation, and representation.

Keep training and remain rescue-ready all year round; and

Refine skills that can be used during patrol season.

‍Pool Lifesaving Junior Competition U8 to U11 

• Training sessions at Mentone Grammar on Monday nights at 7.30pm to 8.30 pm and on Saturdays from 1.00 pm to 2.00 pm.
• Join Team App group chat for U8 to U11 Junior Pool Life Saving and RSVP for each session in the Club Activities tab
• Session costs $10 payable in cash on the day

Senior Pool Life Saving U12 – Open

Seniors, U12 to Open training sessions are now being run by LSV at MSAC in Albert Park on Sunday afternoons.

The 2024 Annual General Meeting for Mentone Lifesaving Club Inc will be held 7.30pm, Tuesday 25th June at Mentone Life Saving Club, 66 Bay Trail, Mentone.

Nominations for Executive and General Committees will open 25th May, nomination form can be found on TeamApp and our Club website, all nominations to be submitted to the Secretary (secretary@mentonelsc.com) by 10th June 2024.

Should you like to submit any items to be raised in General Business at the AGM please do so in writing to the secretary@mentonelsc.com no later than 25th May 2023.
