POOL LIFESAVING

Mentone LSC invites members from U11 to Masters to have-a-go at Pool Lifesaving which is coordinated by LSV.

Pool Lifesaving is held during the year when there is no summer lifesaving activities being held. It's a great way to stay fit but also introduces some new lifesaving skills that enhance the skills learnt during the summer.

LSV offers training sessions at MSAC which do incur a fee. The dates and times for these will be shared with members when they are published.

There are also carnivals held throughout the winter and members can choose whether they wish to compete or just continue training and learning the skills.

The events at pool lifesaving are directly related rescue techniques and include:

Line throw - this involves throwing a rope to a partner in the water and pulling them to the pool edge.

Tube rescues - this involves swimming with the tube and learning how to clip it onto a mannikin and swim back to safety.

Mannikin carry - this requires the rescuer to swim to the mannikin and return to the wall while safely "saving" the mannikin.
