Mentone Icebergers

Who are the Mentone Icebergers?

The Icebergers group at Mentone has existed for over 40 years and has been informally associated with Mentone LSC for the past 15 years. The club has now created a membership classification that will allow Icebergers to become officially affiliated with Mentone LSC. This classification is referred to as Mentone LSC Community (Iceberger) membership.

Please note that you must be recognised as a member of the Mentone Icebergers first before you can apply for the Mentone LSC Community membership. Please contact Jurgen at icebergers@mentonelsc.com to begin your application.

What is the criteria for being recognised as a Mentone Iceberger?

To be considered as part of the Mentone Iceberger group you would need to:

  1. Swim at dawn with the Icebergers 3-4 times a week.
  2. Swim without a wetsuit.
  3. Swim during the winter months.

What are the benefits and limitations of this Community membership at Mentone LSC?

Throughout the year extra social activities included walking and running groups, bike riding including the Gippsland Rail Trail for 5 days. Getaways with holiday weekends, indeed a very social group.
