Champion Junior Lifesaver
The Champion Junior Lifesaver Development Day is a reward and recognition day for youth members that have gone above and beyond within their respected clubs. It is an opportunity to come together with like-minded members to build on Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) skills, participate in development workshops, and explore the different services and pathways available through Life Saving Victoria (LSV).

Applications for this program are advertised at Mentone LSC in January and 13 & 14 year olds who hold their SRC are invited to apply.
LSV Development Camps
U13 Development Camp
The U13 development camp is an opportunity for youth members to develop their interpersonal skills, broaden their understanding of lifesaving, and access support that will help them as they progress through their lifesaving journeys.

The camp is generally held in late April and Mentone LSC calls for applications from 12 & 13 year olds in February.
U15 Development Camp
The U15 leadership development camp is an opportunity for youth members to develop their leadership, interpersonal and teamwork skills, broaden their understanding of lifesaving, and access support that will help them progress through their lifesaving journeys.

The camp is generally held in November/December and Mentone LSC calls for applications from 14 & 15 year olds in October.
U18 Development Camp
The U18 leadership development camp is an opportunity for youth members to develop and enhance key skills that will support them throughout their lifesaving journeys.

The camp is generally held in May and Mentone LSC calls for applications from 16 & 17 year olds in March.
Member development programs for 18+ members
Both Life Saving Victoria (LSV) and Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) provide a range of programs suitable for adult members.
LSV provide a number of 18+ development programs as follows:
Ready 2 Lead – Ready 2 Lead is a “Women In Lifesaving” initiative focusing on female leadership development in the Emergency Services arena. The Ready 2 Lead program will ignite and explore the potential of our emerging leaders aged 18 years and above from lifesaving, aquatic and emergency services agencies. The aim is to assist all participants to recognise the impact they have as leaders, providing them with skills, structured sessions, and a targeted approach to support an ongoing commitment to their development. This program runs over a 6-8 week period from April to June, and is delivered via a hybrid model of both online and face-to-face sessions.
18+ Mentor Program – The 18+ Mentor Program runs from September until April. This unique program is for lifesaving members 18 and older who want to enhance their lifesaving knowledge and skills and diversify their leadership capabilities.
Over the course of seven transformative months, you'll be paired with a mentee/mentor to work through a journey of growth and development. This program is designed to challenge you with front-line workshops, focusing on themes such as powerful communication, resilient leadership, and goal setting and you’ll gain the tools and confidence to navigate and conquer leadership challenges ahead. Opportunities exist to get involved in the program as either a Mentor or Mentee.
SLSA National Leadership Programs – Opportunities through SLSA include National Leadership College, National Leaders’ Masterclass, and the SLSA Women’s Mentoring Program.
