Mentone LSC Weekly Update 14 Feb 2020

General

Requals for Bronze
On the 23rd Feb, Bronze requals will be offered at Mentone. If you are interesting in requals, please reply in the Patrol Team App (an event will be set up)

Friday After School Youth Time
For term one the club will be open from 4pm right after school Fridays for any youth members to access.  Heath Cananzi has volunteered to be present and facilitate an agreed activity (volley ball, rescue training, open mic, watch training video’s etc.) each week.  This is a perfect opportunity for those members who may or may not be competing and want to have some social time around the club. Summer Kitchen staff will be on site to open the club.

Summer Kitchen goes Greek!

We are pleased to introduce Yvette & Laki who will be running the kitchen starting this Thursday and Friday until the end of the season.  Young Jarrod who has done a great job has headed back to his studies but will continue to help out where needed. Yvette and Laki are both passionate foodies who bring a Greek influence style of cooking. Some of you may have already met them over the Australia Day weekend while they were sizzling Souvlaki’s at the club. Our much loved Fish and Chips will remain on the menu which will continue to be competitively priced. Please continue to book and feel free to say hello and share your feedback!

Patrol
We have 2 months of full patrol for the season, all Bronzies and SRC’s need to keep Patrolling at least once a month to help share the load. If you haven’t patrolled lately, please log on to team app and help. The whole club needs to support patrol, parents if you have SRC and Bronze members in your family, try to promote patrolling at Mentone LSC once a month. Let’s keep up the good work.

Gunnamatta Training Sessions
We had a good response to the idea of some surf sessions on the Peninsula so we are scheduling the following days to be run at Gunnamatta:

1. Feb 16
2. Mar 1
3. Mar 15

Sessions will start at 8:30 and go until 10:00. The focus at these sessions will be surf skills. If the waves look too hairy at Gunna, we’ll find another beach. Should be fun.
