Youth/Senior/Boaties Carnival payments for January
Payment for ALL January carnivals is due by 20 December and the fee is $35. This includes Anglesea 5 Jan, Torquay 12 Jan and Mordialloc 19 Jan. Please note that Mordi carnival includes Belt and Reel. Programs are available at https://lsv.com.au/2019-2020-sports-calendar/
Christmas Merchandise Sale
Stock up for Christmas this Sunday as we have our Christmas Sale. Lots of bargains to be had!! The shop will be open all morning.
Summer Kitchen Evenings and weekend mornings
With school wrapping up the meals at the club are getting busier on both Thursday and Friday nights. To help prepare please don’t forget to book on line This is a great service by members for members to catch up with family and friends and guests and public are very welcome. Our very popular summer Saturday breakfasts 8.30am to midday also available, and on the Sundays come up for a coffee, milkshake and hot dogs (yes the club kiosk is open on Sunday mornings right behind the merchandise shop).
Australia Day Swim
The Great Australia Day Swim will take place on Sunday January 26th at The Brighton Lifesaving Club. Options include 650m, 1400m, 2500m, as well as the 200/300m Junior Dash for 7-12yo’s. Live entertainment, food stalls, t-shirts, swim caps and more. Registration fee for the Junior Dash is $20, which includes a Tee Shirt, fruit, ice creams and Nivea Sunscreen. Entry for 650m, 1400m and 2.5km is $45. More information on the attached flier.
Patrol
Requal and Patrol
Mentonelsc bronzies, you have two more opportunities to requal this season before your awards expire on the 31st Dec.Mordi has a Requal on Sunday 22nd and Carrum on 29th Dec.
Please make an effort to requal and log on to team app to help patrol over summer.
We are running a heatwave patrol this Friday starting at 3pm. Log on and I will see you at the club
Juniors
Nippers on 22 Dec
This Sunday will be our last Nippers session for the year. Lots of fun, lots of games, and we may even have a special visitor arriving at some point…ssshhhhh!
This Sunday is our last Nippers for 2019. Our first Sunday Nippers of 2020 will be Sunday 19 January.
Summer Holiday Camp 6 Jan – 10 Jan
Mentone LSC will host the 3rd annual Summer Holiday Camp from 6 Jan-10 Jan. This camp is for U8-U15 and will focus on beach, surf and lifesaving skills. The program will run from 8:30am to 11am. On Friday we will have a fun carnival to finish. We also will have an optional event on Friday for U13-U15. For any U13-U15 that are interested we will be taking boards down so that athletes can compete in the Jim Wall Iron Classic at Torquay. Events start at 2:30pm on Friday 10 Jan.
Mentone LSC asks for participants in the weekly program for an optional $70 tax-deductible donation to the club here. This money will help with Programs for Juniors at Mentone LSC.
Age Group Nights
We have Age Group Nights at the Club on Thursday evenings. These nights are a great chance to socialise with other families from Mentone. The bar and Mentone Kitchen will be open.

If your athlete has never done a competition and would like to try one out. Mordialloc is a good one to start with.

Jim Wall Iron 10 Jan Torquay SLSC 2:30pm U13-U15
The Jim Wall Iron now includes U13. We will have a contingent of athletes attending. If you would like to attend or would like more info contact Greg Schmidt
Kozi Iron Challenge Mornington 28 December 11, 2019
Kozii is sponsoring a 3 Iron Challenge at Mornington. This is open to U9-U17 and will include 3 Iron Races and final rankings based on all races.

Mentone LSC Seals training (intro to board and swim for U8-U11)
Mentone LSC provides introductory training for boarding and open water swimming. More info on these sessions and times can be found here.
Mentone Development/Performance Squad
Mentone LSC provides training sessions for U10-U13 who want to do additional training for competition. These sessions include Surf, Swim, Beach, Run and Pilates. These sessions are held at Mentone throughout the week. For more info, signup for the Teamstuff group here.
Seniors/Youth
Mentone Gold/Mini-Gold – Tuesday 24th December
Consisting of a 3k run, a 3.7k ski, a 2k board and a 1.2k swim, it is considered the pinnacle of sporting achievement at Mentone LSC to win this event. Entries may be as individuals or as teams. Individuals must be able to ski.
For the 14’s there is also the option to complete a Mini Gold. This consists of a 3k run, a 2k board and a 1k swim.
Parents welcome to enter too, and helpers will be required.
The race will start at 8:30 sharp. If everyone could get down to the club at 7:30 to help with set up that would be great.
Please contact Aaron Hamstead ASAP if you are participating and indicate whether you are entering (Gold or Mini Gold) and which ski and board you will use. Club skis and boards will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.
Manly/Freshwater Carnival – 25/26th January
Please let Aaron Hamstead know by Sunday 22nd December if you are planning to attend. We have accommodation and trailer towing. If you want to go but your parents can’t take you let Aaron know as there will likely be space in other people’s cars.
