LIFESAVING AT MENTONE
Mentone Life Saving Club has been patrolling Mentone Beach since 1920 and we are one of the oldest bay clubs.
Our aim is to provide the highest standard of water safety for visitors, our members, and the broader community.
BECOME A LIFESAVER AT MENTONE
Patrolling
The patrol starts in November and continues through Easter every year. To be eligible for patrol members must complete training and gain either their Surf Rescue Certificate or Bronze Medallion.
To Patrol you need to obtain a lifesaving qualification. This qualification is a Bronze Medallion for those over 15 years and a Surf Rescue Certificate for anyone who is over 13 years.
The club runs training in these qualifications every year starting in October.
Additional to the essential training there is also an opportunity to extend and build on your knowledge and skills by obtaining further awards, Patrol Captain leadership opportunities and the potential to become a trainer and assessor.
To learn about how to obtain these lifesaving qualifications please go to our Awards / Training page.
Water Safety
In addition to Patrolling, members can gain qualifications and provide water safety at Club events, Nipper and Senior Carnivals / competitions.
LSV requires all clubs to provide qualified water safety numbers proportional to the number of competitors.
